THE HUMANS
THE HUMANS
Three Paws Creative grew out of the same place most of our good ideas do: a couch, a sketchbook, a couple half-finished coffees, and the swirl of fur from the three animals who shaped our home. Their very different energies somehow blended into something steady and whole — calm and chaotic, clever and stubborn, soft and opinionated. That mix became how we work and make things: thoughtful, a little witty, and never taking ourselves too seriously.
“Distinct strands, different instincts, all braided together into one honest approach.”
Laura Stokes
Creative Compass, Quiet Genius, Keeper of the Good Ideas
Laura is the grounding force of Three Paws Creative, but she’s also the one quietly fueling half the ideas around here. She’s not a designer by trade, but undeniably creative — the kind of creative you can’t teach. It’s instinctive. Natural. Effortless. Someone who sees the world sideways in the best possible way.
She draws, she imagines, she tinkers, she notices the small details the rest of us miss. She’s the illustrator who swears she’s “not really an illustrator,” the creative voice who doesn’t need a title to shape the work, and the person who can walk past a sketch and immediately tell you what’s missing (and be right).
She brings:
A softer, more intuitive creative perspective
The inherent ability to make something charming without even trying
A big-picture calm that balances Jason’s “but what if we rebuilt the whole thing?” energy
A natural storyteller’s touch — gentle, imaginative, and absolutely full of heart
Jason Schmitt
Visual Designer, Problem-Solver, Overthinker-in-Residence
Jason has spent two decades shaping brands and campaigns, always looking for what makes something feel right to him. He’s a designer by trade, but happiest untangling messy ideas and turning them into something clear and workable. He’s Someone who notices when things are off and can’t let go.
Jason can spot a misaligned grid from across a room, predict how a layout will collapse before anyone else notices. He brings rhythm to the messy parts, clarity to the fuzzy parts, and a surprisingly diplomatic approach to convincing the people signing the checks that yes, the spacing actually does matter.
He brings:
A texture-driven eye and a love for thoughtful systems
The ability to create order out of chaos without losing the spark
A Maine-meets-NYC sensibility — steady, practical, quietly ambitious
The instinct to refine ideas just far enough with the right amount of polish.
THE PAWS
(Behind the Name)
Mia
The Advisor
(Forever With Us)
Mia is woven into everything we do — literally and metaphorically. Her calm, steady presence shaped the rhythm of our home and the way we work: slower when needed, kinder when possible, and always with room for one more treat.
She brings:
A quiet ease that smooths the edges off the day
The reminder to breathe, slow down, and occasionally lie in a sunbeam
The gentle sense that someone wise is still supervising the room
The studio wouldn’t feel complete without her, and it never will. She’s always with us — not loudly, but in the way the day moves, the way we pause, and the way we remember what actually matters.
Izzy
The Original
Muse
Izzy is the spark behind Three Paws — expressive, opinionated, and fully convinced every idea should be run by her first. She specializes in dramatic sighs, tactical stares, and providing “feedback” no one asked for but everyone receives.
She brings:
Bold opinions disguised as “collaboration”
Snack surveillance with impeccable timing
The energy that keeps everyone slightly more honest than planned
If the studio had an official creative director, Izzy would claim the title — and still refuse to attend any meeting that wasn’t explicitly about her. She’s the heartbeat of the operation, even when she’s pretending she isn’t.
Roo
The Director
of Vibes
Roo is enthusiasm in motion — full throttle, full joy, full commitment. He approaches each day with the confidence only a three-legged dog can have, certain that every moment is the best moment and possibly snack-related.
He brings:
Optimism and tail-thumps that require structural reinforcement
Zero hesitation in announcing his presence
Momentum (and the inevitable trail of dramatic chaos that follows behind it)
If something exciting is happening, Roo is already there. If nothing exciting is happening, he’ll personally fix that. He’s our self-appointed morale department, and honestly, he’s pretty good at the job.
